Who writes and reviews
Medical content on this site is written for patients and reviewed and approved by Dr. Neera Nathan, MD, MSHS, a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, before it is published. Each medical page shows who wrote it and when it was last updated.
Sources
Medical statements are based on current clinical guidelines and reliable public-health sources. They include the American Academy of Dermatology and the AAD–National Psoriasis Foundation, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health (NIAMS), the American Cancer Society and the Skin Cancer Foundation, plus peer-reviewed journals. Key statements link to their source, and every source is listed on the references page.
Cosmetic content
Cosmetic topics are covered with the same standard as medical ones. We describe benefits and risks, including risks for different skin tones. We don't publish before-and-after photos, testimonials or promises of results.
Inclusive by default
Skin conditions can look different on different skin tones. Articles describe how signs may appear on lighter and darker skin, and sun-protection advice is written for everyone.
Independence
The site carries no advertising, sponsored content or affiliate links. Product types and ingredients are discussed on the evidence, not by brand.
Updates and corrections
Pages are reviewed when guidelines change. If you think something is inaccurate or out of date, please email [email protected]. Corrections are made promptly, and the "last updated" date changes.
Use of writing tools
Drafting and editing tools may be used to help prepare text. Every medical statement is checked against its source and approved by Dr. Nathan before publication.
